The Trey Miller Group Le Caveau Fine Wine Interview

Hi I am Trey Miller and I am here today at Le Caveau Fine Wines in Chamblee, Georgia and I am here with Daniel Crawford and I am excited to be here, because this a wine shop that really does not exist much in Atlanta. Tell me a little bit about Le Caveau Fine Wines. Well at Le Caveau we really focus on old world wine and that translates into European wine basically. Not that we discriminate, we do have a nice domestic selection, we have some wines from South America and our collection is constantly growing. Well I am a huge wine drinker myself, so it’s so nice to have this right in the neighborhood. Are the wines affordable? Are they all over one hundred dollars a bottle? Or do you have something a guy like me can afford? Sure. Well that is always a concern when someone comes into a wine shop; it’s generally intimidating, just because there is so much to know about wine and wine kind of gets a little bit of a snobby rap. But beautiful wines do not have to be expensive. We have for example, Laurent Miquel Languedoc Chardonnay that is nine ninety nine.  Over eighty percent of our list is under twenty five dollars and under. There are collectible wines, wines that need to be chilled for ten years before they are ready, but the great majority of our wines are ready to rock right out of the bottle. Daniel, what kind of advice would you give to someone that is just learning about wine? I would say just pay attention to what you are drinking, pay attention to the grape, pay attention to the region, when you find something you enjoy make note of it and it will help you in the future. Ok. So, at Le Caveau, do ya’ll do tastings, or dinner periods, or anything like that? We do tastings and dinners pretty often. You can check us out on our facebook page, as well as at our website and the information will be there for you, so you can come in and taste wine with us. Well fantastic, are we going to do a tasting right now? Yeah, let’s taste some wine now. Alright. This is Valpolicella made by Stefano Cesari.  How much is it? It is fifteen ninety nine a bottle. A touch of ripasso just means it has been exposed to little bit of dried grape skins, which gives it a little bit of a raisin flavor. Ok. What should I be looking for in like the taste? A little bit of viscosity, a touch of raisin, certain fruit, a good bit of tannin and acid to balance out the fruitiness of the wine. So, it’s all integrated very well. That is delicious. I think so. That is great. Why don’t you give it a taste? I want to hear what you have to say about it. There is not a better example of wine for fifteen ninety nine that is for sure. I could not agree with you more. Le Caveau on Peachtree, Old Peachtree, right across form the Chamblee Marta station in Chamblee, Georgia. Stop by, Tuesday through Saturday from eight to four. Almost. Ha-ha. Eleven until eight. Ha-ha. Must be the wine.
